Here are some of our Milestones:

1991 - Silicon is founded
It’s July, 1991 and SIlicon Systems is founded. We begin building and selling Intel 80286 PCs to Wellington businesses. The red, white and blue Silicon logo starts making a name for itself and before we know it, we’re building hundreds of PCs a month. Its time to start getting a bit serious.

1995 - ISO9001 Certification
After 2 years refining and documenting our processes and procedures, Silicon becomes the first computer company in New Zealand to gain ISO9001 certification.
We receive a ministerial Scroll at the 1996 New Zealand Business Development Quality Awards, after adopting the Malcolm Baldridge Total Quality Management Philosophy. That philosophy is still fundamental to every aspect of our business today.

1999 - Intel Premier Provider
By now, we've forged a reputation for building the highest quality PCs available. We begin applying these standards to building servers. We take our relationship with Intel to the next level, becoming an Intel Premier Provider for New Zealand. Our locally built, globally supported range of servers goes Dambusters - providing superior performance at almost half the price of multi-national competitors.

2004 - NZ's first Blade Servers
Building on our growing server architecture expertise, we build and deliver the very first blade servers in New Zealand to the New Zealand Stock Exchange and New Zealand Racing Board. Blade server technology in the enterprise takes off, as the first step towards high density and high availability server resource for demanding applications.

2008 - Leading in Virtualisation
Complemented by the performance and efficiency of high density server computing, virtualisation goes mainstream and Silicon becomes a VMware Enterprise partner, developing strong internal capability and helping businesses virtualise.
With our expertise continually growing, Silicon establishes itself as a true one-stop shop for virtualised environment provision and management.

2011 - Datacentre Build
In 2011 after 2 years of planning and design, the construction of our very own datacentre begins, ushering in a new era for Silicon as a cloud solutions provider. Ever built a datacentre? Its no mean feat. A fastidious design process laid the foundation for doing it once and doing it right.

2013 - Cloudsuite is Live
In September 2013 we flick the 'on' switch to our datacentre and launch Cloudsuite, our range of IT infrastructure-as-a-service solutions. Cloudsuite provides local, accessible and affordable private cloud infrastructure to Wellington businesses who understand the power of a good relationship. We enjoy 99.9997% uptime over the next 4 years.

2018 - CBD Relocation
After 5 years running our datacenter in an incredibly fast moving market, we make the call to relocate our infrastructure from our own datacenter to Xtreme Networks in Wellington city. This enhances our resilience and allows us to focus on our core business of infrastructure services rather than facilities management. At the same time, after 27 years in Petone, we relocate our offices to the Wellington CBD, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our history.

2020 - A Bold New Brand
After nearly 30 years using our original turquiose and red "3 squares" branding, we rebrand with the imagery you see today. This bold new brand represents our metamorphosis from a hardware builder at our inception to the true solutions provider we are almost 30 years later.

2023 - Datto Blue Diamond Partner & Award
As we continue with our growth, we achieve Blue Diamond partner status with Datto, the leading global provider of cloud-based software and technology solutions for technology services providers. Blue Diamond status is awarded to the top 1% of over 2,000 partners worldwide.
We back this up with a MSP of the year award in the Cybersecurity Innovation Category for 2023, and follow it up the following year winning the automation category.

Today -Continued Growth & Innovation
As we approach 35 years in business, we continue to develop and enhance our solution stack with innovations in automation, cyber security, and client experience. We have 3 offices in 3 centers, and support clients all over the globe. Oh - and we're ISO27001 certified.

We're meeting the challenge and opportunity of AI and our team are more passionate than ever about enhancing and protecting New Zealand businesses. Here's to the next 35 years.
